  • Family: Fabaceae
  • Form: Semi-deciduous shrub or small tree with horizontal branch habit, reaching 8-20 ft.
  • Leaves: Bi-pinnately compound, alternate, entire, linear, glabrous
  • Stem/Bark: Spiney, evident lenticels
  • Flower: Yellow, fragrant, globose heads
  • Fruit: Legume, green turning black, often in clusters
  • Comments: Sweet Acacia makes an outstanding specimen tree. A related species, Acacia choriophylla, is equally spectacular, with larger leaflets and no spines.
