- Form: Large multi-stemmed shrub or small tree, reaching 5-15 ft.
- Leaves: Evergreen, opposite, entire, elliptic, acute apices
- Stem/Bark: Pale gray
- Flower: Yellow-green, multi-staminate, borne in clusters
- Fruit: Green turning black, oval-shaped berry
- Comments: Compact forms are available having smaller leaves
