Family: Rubiaceae

Form: Evergreen shrub, reaching 5 to 9 ft.

Leaves: Simple, opposite, entire, dark green and glossy with prominent veins

Stem/Bark: Brown

Flower: White, borne in clusters

Fruit: Drupe, dark red

Comments: Compact forms are available in the trade, as are two other native coffee species, P. ligustrifolia and P. sulzerni.
