Fruit: Drupes, borne in terminal clusters, dark-purple

Comments: This wonderful native should not be confused with two FLEPPC Category I invasive species: Ardisia crenata (having red berries and crenate leaf margins) or Ardisia elliptica (having ovoid, larger dark purple fruit hanging from distinct pedicles).
