Stem/Bark: Pale gray-brown, prominent lenticels, suckering

Flower: Panicle inflorescence with small white flowers, five petals and stamens, bisexual

Fruit: Dark purple, berry-like drupe with multiple pyrenes, edible

Comments: Several cultivars are available with larger or red fruit.
