Stem/Bark: Contractile stems
Flower: Dioecious with male cones smaller in diameter than female cones
Fruit: None, seeds have a fleshy, red outer seed coat
Comments: Can be distinguished from the FL native Zamia floridana by having larger leaflets that lack twisting appearance
