  • Family: Rubiaceae
  • Form: Evergreen shrub, reaching 5-9 ft.
  • Leaves: Simple, opposite, entire, dark green and glossy with prominent veins
  • Stem/Bark: Brown
  • Flower: White, borne in clusters
  • Fruit: Drupe, dark red
  • Comments: Compact forms are available in the trade, as are two other native coffee species, P. ligustrifolia and P. sulzerni
