Student 7:

  1. Reduce negative impacts of ag pesticides released to the environment.
  2. Reduce nutrient loads from agricultural areas to downstream recieving water and marshes.
  3. Improve competitiveness of native plants in the nursery industry.

"I have chosen the first two objectives as most important because of their relationship to water.  Pesticides are a contaminant with proven ill effects.  An emphasis to reduce pesticide use with research in biological controls and other more ecologically sound practices is an obvious matter of importance.   Nutrient loads from agricultureal areas destroy the chemical balance of wetlands and in turn undermine wetland's ability to function as a water filter and home to native species of plants and animals."
